: the artist :: biography

Ken Hull is a self-taught artist residing in Boalsburg , PA. He began by capturing in pen & ink the landscapes and wildlife of his home area in Centre County . He expanded his horizons and mediums when he took his first trip abroad to paint a collection of works inspired by the beauty and spirit of Ireland in watercolors. This marked the beginning of what is now the artist's trademark: traveling across America and to distant lands only to return and create a body of work that draws his audience into moments of time and place. These collections have included scenes from Italy , France , the American Southwest and the island of Corsica.

Over the years, Ken has participated in numerous juried art shows every season. In many of these shows he has received special recognition, including: "Best New Artist," Lakewood, OH; "First Place in Watercolors," A Fair in the Park, Pittsburgh, PA; and twice an invited artist at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in State College, PA. He also received notoriety when American Artist Magazine published a featured article that detailed his trip to Ireland. Ken currently maintains a studio and gallery of his work in the historic village of Boalsburg, which is open to the public year round.
